Mixed media - no. 1 is a transitional and warm season piece. Initially based on stripes' explorations from my previous work on Sean Scully's paintings, it came out as a synthesis of different artist's influences, personal photos, souvenirs and journal notes around the sea. The sea seen as a resourceful, healing, dangerous, deep, fascinating, regenerating entity.
The main fabric is a DK yarn in 50% cachemire and 50% coton, with accents in different yarns. Some linen, angora, cachemire, very fine wool, silk, viscose create light effects and transparencies. The embroidered pearls on the lace and on the ripped fragments are inspired by the meaningful Japanese technique of Kintsugi (repairing broken ceramic bowls with gold).
Like always, this is an unique piece. More than ever, the pictured top was designed for and with the valuable contribution of it's future owner. Although the next pieces may use and interpret similar elements, itwill not be another identical one.
